Ian Macadam will address the key question “What is a knowledge broker anyway?” and lead a discussion about how the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes could engage with governments, business and schools to promote your research in “the real world”.

 

Brief Biography: Ian is the leader of the centre’s Knowledge Brokerage Team. His role is to engage with the centre’s external stakeholders to understand their requirements for information about climate extremes. Ian has over 15 years of experience generating information on climate change and disseminating it to research, government and private-sector stakeholders. He has previously worked for the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science, NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, the UK Met Office and CSIRO in a variety of applied climate science, project management and data provision roles. His PhD from UNSW Climate Change Research Centre focussed on the integration of regional climate projections into investigations of climate change impacts. Ian has contributed to numerous scientific papers and reports, including major international reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, OECD and European Environment Agency.
